Erwin Rommel


Erwin Johannes Eugen Rommel , popularly known as the Desert Fox, was a German field marshal of World War II.

Rommel was born onNovember 1891 in Southern Germany at Heidenheim, 45 kilometres from Ulm, in the Kingdom of Wrttemberg, then part of the German Empire. He was the second of four children of Erwin Rommel Senior , a teacher and school administrator, and his wife Helene von Lutz, who headed the local government council. As a young man Rommels father had been a lieutenant in the artillery. Rommel had one older sister and three younger brothers, one of whom died in infancy.
